GELP partners with local businesses to teach youth the importance of community service, gardening, and locally sourced ingredients. Ask about our Neighborhood Clean Up Project & Youth Employment Programs!

Services include tutoring, mentorship, career training, job placement, mental health workshops, athletic skill development, positive communication, educational field trips, financial literacy courses, and more.

Wellness

The Free Sweat Clinic is a monthly 90-minute exercise bootcamp for youth, currently shared with 25 recreation centers and 250 participants. Universities can also participate through college tours or upon request.

A Baltimore native and social work graduate who grew up in Greenmount East. Mr. Johnson aims to help youth overcome challenges with year-round programming that includes youth basketball, fitness and nutrition, job preparation and more.

Brian Anderson is an East Baltimore native and a Baltimore City College graduate. He received his Bachelor's degree in International Relations & Communications (’18) and his Master's in Conflict Analysis and Negotiation (’19) from Salisbury University. Brian has traveled to over 20 countries, building his cultural competencies and focusing on youth development through sports. He currently serves as the Development Officer for Corporate Partnerships with the youth soccer and poetry non-profit, DC SCORES.

As a SEL youth development specialist, Coach Hunid works with at-risk youth, providing them with creative outlets such as writing, poetry, and Hip Hop. As the CEO and Founder of YCAV (Youth Council Against Violence), he believes in valuing every youth and sees the transformative potential of mentorship, guidance, 

and unconditional love.

Marquis "Bip" Carrington

Urban Youth Specialist 


Marquis began his professional career at the Enoch Pratt Free Library and later transitioned to the school system during the pandemic. He worked with middle school students in math and technology classes and became a Registered Yoga Instructor in 2022. He now uses tools such as yoga, music, writing, podcasting, and meditation to enhance the lives of community members.

A loving father of three and an avid adventurer who grew up playing sports on the East side of Baltimore, Nigel is a former fire department volunteer and experienced in driving box trucks.
