After School Enrichment

The GELP after school program runs concurrently with the Baltimore City Public School calendar. Program participants meet Tuesdays, Thursdays, and alternate Saturdays each month. During that time, we offer anger management, conflict resolution, and drug prevention workshops led by a licensed mental health clinician. We also assist youth with job coaching, career planning and resume building. Youth participate in field trips that educate them on various career fields and opportunities available. We utilize structured sports programs to encourage team building skills.  Our organization prioritizes using somatic interventions, such as fitness programs, recreational sports, and yoga to improve overall health and wellness. 

We also offer life skills workshops that include cooking classes, financial literacy, enrichment activities and other basic life skills. Our goal is to provide older youth that successfully participate in our initiatives with a driving school scholarship. We understand that transportation is a barrier to employment in our community, and we are hoping to mitigate this.

        Our organization is interested in studying the long-term positive effects that exercise and positive programming can have on our youth. We believe that by engaging at-risk youth in quality fitness and after school programming, we can change the trajectory of life for our youth. The Greenmount East Leadership Project is dedicated to providing opportunities and resources to the children of East Baltimore.
